Expert IB MYP & PYP Tutoring — Building the IB Learner from the Start
The IB Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme are the foundation on which the IB Diploma is built. At IB Curriculum Academy, we support students through every year of the IB continuum — from PYP through MYP — with personalised tutoring that builds genuine understanding, inquiry skills, and the habits of mind that define IB learners.
One Framework — From Age 3 to University
The International Baccalaureate offers four programmes that form a continuous educational journey from early childhood through to university entry. The Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP) are connected by shared values, a common learner profile, and a consistent emphasis on inquiry-based learning.
Students who spend their entire school journey within the IB continuum — from PYP through MYP into the Diploma — are significantly better prepared for the rigour of the DP than those who enter the IB only at Grade 11. The skills, vocabulary, and habits of inquiry built in the MYP and PYP are not supplementary — they are foundational.
At IB Curriculum Academy, we support students at every stage of the IB continuum — ensuring no year is wasted and every student arrives at the DP fully prepared.
"The students who thrive in the IB Diploma are almost always the ones who genuinely understood the MYP. The PYP and MYP are not preparation for real IB — they are real IB."

The PYP — Where IB Learning Begins
The IB PYP is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It is built around six transdisciplinary themes and structured around inquiry, action, and reflection — giving young learners the habits of mind they will carry through their entire education.
What the PYP Requires of Students
The PYP is not a traditional curriculum. Students are asked to connect ideas across subjects, ask genuine questions, and develop as independent learners. The final year of PYP culminates in the PYP Exhibition — a major inquiry project in which students work collaboratively to investigate a real-world issue.
Many parents find that their child struggles not with the content itself but with the inquiry process — how to frame questions, how to research independently, and how to present ideas with clarity and structure.
At IB Curriculum Academy, our PYP tutoring focuses on strengthening core subject knowledge across all six areas while also building the inquiry skills and independent thinking that the PYP demands.

The MYP — Five Years That Define the DP Student
The IB MYP runs from Grade 6 to Grade 10 — five critical years that build the analytical thinking, academic writing, and interdisciplinary understanding that the Diploma demands. Students who struggle in the MYP almost always struggle in the DP too.

Where MYP Students Most Often Need Support
The MYP introduces students to the criterion-referenced assessment system that runs through the IB Diploma. Every task, every essay, every project is marked against specific criteria — and students who do not understand how to write and think for these criteria consistently underperform relative to their actual ability.
Our MYP tutoring addresses this directly. We teach students not just the content of each subject but how to express that understanding in the way the MYP criteria reward — building the academic habits that will carry them through the DP.
"The Personal Project in MYP Year 5 is a student's first taste of the Extended Essay. How well they manage it tells us everything about their DP readiness."
— IB Curriculum Academy on MYP Year 5The Ten Attributes We Help Every Student Build
The IB Learner Profile applies across every programme — PYP, MYP, and DP. These ten attributes are not abstract values; they are the practical habits of mind that IB assessment is designed to reward.

Criterion-Based Coaching
Every piece of work is reviewed against the actual MYP or PYP criteria — so students learn to write and think for the assessment, not around it.
Online & In-Person
Live Zoom sessions with digital whiteboard for all online sessions. Always live, always interactive, never pre-recorded.
What Makes the Difference at This Stage
The PYP and MYP are often treated as background programmes. We treat them with the same seriousness as the Diploma — because the outcomes at this stage directly determine a student's DP trajectory.
IB Continuum Specialists
Our tutors understand the full IB continuum — how PYP feeds into MYP, and how MYP builds the specific skills the Diploma demands.
Criterion-Referenced Teaching
We teach students to understand and meet the MYP and PYP assessment criteria — the foundational skill that determines how their work is graded.
Personal Project & Exhibition Support
The MYP Personal Project and PYP Exhibition are high-stakes capstone assessments. We guide students through every stage with dedicated, structured support.
DP-Ready by Grade 11
Our MYP tutoring is designed with one eye always on the Diploma — building the academic habits, subject knowledge, and inquiry skills students need before Grade 11 begins.
